How did Recruit Packs start?

Recruit Packs was founded in September 2013, but work began 18 months earlier... We also run Denbigh Army Surplus Ltd, which was started by Mick and Jan Brady in 1988. As an army surplus we used to get a few recruits coming in looking for polish, trouser twists and bungees, but we'd never looked at the kit list as a whole. It wasn't until a British Army recruiter, working at the local AFCO, called in and asked us if we could put packs together that would take the hassle out of buying items for Phase 1. R&D I spent the next 15 months researching and developing our very first "Army Recruit Pack", which was too expensive and full of high end...

Banter Or Bullying

When starting out in a new job you can almost guarantee a bit of “banter” in the early stages, especially in single sex environments. Where will I do Army Selection?

If you're joining the Regular or Territorial British Army you will be invited to one of four Army Development and Selection Centres (ADSCs); Pirbright in Surrey, Lichfield in Staffordshire, Glencourse in Scotland and Belfast, Northern Ireland. Your chosen role in the army will not affect which center you go to. Is it the same for reservists? As of December 22nd 2016, ATR Grantham is the key location for the training of reservists. However, it was announced in November of the same year that ATR Grantham will be closing down in 2020 to make way for new housing. It's expected that any recruits interested in joining the reserves after the closure of ATR Grantham will go to one of the other four...

Where will I do Phase 1?

There are 5 training centers for the British Army. Which center you go to depends on the regiment you are hoping to join. ITC Catterick Catterick, North Yorkshire, England. This is where all infantry recruits, Footguards, The Parachute Regiment and The Brigade of Gurkhas, complete the Combat Infantryman's Course. A combined Phase 1 and 2 training. Junior infantry soldiers will complete Phase 1 at AFC Harrogate and then transfer to ITC Catterick for Phase 2.
